STS Standard Off-grid GPRS IP54 Waterproof Smart Prepaid Solar Metering Box
Model STB560-A Metering‐box (hereafter referred as M‐box) is a multi‐function metering solution composed of Box, Measurement & Control Unit (MCU), GPRS module, LORA-RF module and Customer Interface Unit (CIU). Each M‐box can access the far‐end servers via GPRS, so that the administrators can operate M‐boxes and read all the meters’ energy consumption information remotely.
The M-box is composed of PC (polycarbonate) cover and ABS base, with performance of reliable insulation, high strength, good flaming resistance, anti‐corrosion, anti‐aging and lifetime of over 10 years. It could be widely used in housing construction or civil power grids transformation, with features of multiple combinations of different metering units, easy installation, hidden cable connection and safe operation.
By operating M‐boxes and read all the meters’ energy consumption information remotely, it can help utility companies to largely improve the management efficiency of their power grids, and reduce the management cost.
For users, CIU installed in their homes could achieve energy consumption data from M‐boxes via LORA-RF communication, and display to users, so that it is not only convenient for them to read data, but also avoid disruption of energy measurement. Thus, this is a complete metering box solution which combines measurement, use and management of energy.

M-Box Dimension:
Functionality
1. Measurement
Positive active and reserve active energy measurement function.
2. Prepayment
M-box Switch off the load supply when the user’s credit turn to 0 , users can recharge by input 20digits TOKEN on CIU.
3. Low Credit
Alarm value can be set by inputting corresponding TOKEN.
4. Load control function
M-Box can be programmed for load control threshold, If the current power is more than threshold. The meter will cut off user load.
5. Event Recording
M-Box will record the total times of cover opening / reverse current/ power off event and the time of latest 10 times of event.
6. Self-testing
M-Box has a self-test function, it can test LCD and relay etc. and report the results directly.
7. TOU Tariff:
TOU Tariff can be set by inputting corresponding TOKEN.
8. Overdraft Collection:
Electricity Overdraft can be collected day by day or month by month.
9. Information Inquiry:
Consumer could check the data like Credit Remain, Total Purchased and Total Credit by input the short code on CIU.
10. Anti-Tamper:
Meter will automatically close the valve after detection of magnetic field and open cover event.
11. Communication:
①GPRS : M-Box is available with AMI system communication to the database server through GPRS module
②LORA-RF: CIU communication with M-box by LORA-RF.
Installation onto Pole/Wall
The whole set of installation accessories, including horizontal & vertical bars and hoop, are packed independent from the box. As shown above, Part 1 is the hoop, Part 2 the horizontal bar and Part 3 the vertical bar, while the size information of horizontal bar and hoop could be seen in Picture.
Below steps shall be taken during installation process onto the electric pole:
✽ Install the vertical bar and the bolts for horizontal bar onto the proper positions on the backside of the meter box, and fix with screws.
✽ Install the horizontal bar onto the bolts.
✽ Fix the hoop onto the pole.
✽ Fix the hoop with the meter box using screws.
There are totally 2 units of vertical bar, 2 units of horizontal bar and 2 units of hoop for installation.
Power Cable Connection
Power cables are concentrated on the bottom of the meter box, inserted through the cable fixers, and connected under the screws of input terminals, neutral terminals and output terminals. The input cables shall be copper cables no smaller than BV‐50mm2, and the output cables shall be copper cables no smaller than BV‐16mm2.
The configuration of input terminals, neutral terminals and output terminals inside the meter box is shown below.

Installation & Connection of CIU
CIU means Customer Interface Unit, which is the device installed in the user’s home, following the connection diagram below. Its connection method is similar as the connection of meters. UIU doesn’t measure energy, but instead, it just displays the measured energy data. So the output lines of L and N phase of UIU are not compulsory to be used.
After installing CIUs’ power cables, The CIU will automatically connect to the M-box by LORA-RF module.
